Potateoes aren't welcome on low-carb diets. But even Mr. Potato Head knows they're good food, and good for you if eaten right.
It's estimated that more than 40 million people worldwide have tried the Atkins diet for weight loss. Other low-carbohydrate diets, like the South Beach diet and the Zone diet, skyrocketed to popularity alongside Atkins.
However, some observers say the trend for ditching carbs in favor of proteins and fats is on the wane.
Two local nutritionists say maybe it's for the best that fewer people are turning to low-carb fad diets to shed pounds.
It may not be safe, they say, and it's definitely not the best way to lose weight.
