Last year was an exciting year for the Joliet Kiwanis Club, and 2005 looks to be even better.
Under the direction of 2002-04 club President Bill Dow, the club increased its involvement with its Key Clubs in the Joliet high schools and reinstituted the Kiwanis Scholarship Program, raising more than $7,000. They awarded two $500 scholarships to Key Club members in 2004. They also created a Joliet Kiwanis Club Endowment/Planned Giving Fund and gave more than $13,000 to area organizations, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Easter Seals, The Salvation Army and United Cerebral Palsy. Additionally, members donated hundreds of hours of service to these and other area organizations.
