TUCSON, Ariz. -- Being despised by opponents, as typically has been the case for A.J. Pierzynski, is a badge of honor. Having teammates call you an unprepared, disrespectful "cancer," well, there's nothing honorable about that.
"When people say bad stuff about you, sure, it (ticks) you off," said the new White Sox catcher, who had a controversy-filled 2004 season in San Francisco. "I've got thick skin, but I feel sorry for my family, friends and the people who have stood up for me. Believe it or not, people have stood up for me."
