Speaking before The Herald News Editorial Board on Friday, state Transportation Secretary Tim Martin urged the two groups competing for third airport control -- Will County officials and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Chicago -- to resolve their differences.
Martin also praised the airport efforts of Illinois Senate Majority Leader Debbie Halvorson, D-Crete. Halvorson, he said, is taking the lead to bring the two rivals together. He added that a crucial issue remaining for the airport -- who will govern it -- must be decided by the Legislature.
