Zella S. Swenson, 96, of rural Waterman, IL, went to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 14, 2005.
She was born January 8, 1909, in Ottawa, IL, the daughter of Erik and Christine (Hall) Jerde. Orphaned at the age of five she and her five brothers we raised by their "Auntie", the sister of their mother on a farm south of Ottawa. She married Alfred T. Swenson on June 12, 1935, in Joliet, IL.
Zella graduated from Northern Illinois State Teachers College in DeKalb, and went on to teach at a one room school south of Sandwich, IL. At that time her best friend Margaret Swenson introduced her to her beloved Alfred of West Chicago. They made their first home on a farm in West Chicago. In 1969, they ...
