If you suffer frequently from sinus-related problems, you have plenty of company.
About 20 percent of Americans suffer from a chronic sinus problem; 50 percent of them also have seasonal or year-round allergies that compound the problem, said Dr. Ankit Patel, an otolaryngologist (head and neck surgeon) at both Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center and Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.
For these people, facial tenderness and pain, postnasal drip and recurring or chronic sinus infections are a way of life.
That's the bad news. The good news is that, with proper treatment, most of these people's symptoms can be alleviated.
