Industrial controls have made a difference in Lake County's air, environmental regulators say.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Wednesday that the county meets the nation's health-based air quality standard for sulfur dioxide.
That means Lake County will be removed from the short list of counties deemed "non-attainment" for sulfur dioxide levels.
It has been on that list since 1978.
