Article: NWI humane society assists in Mississippi

Staff from the Humane Society Northwest Indiana left Wednesday for Hattiesburg, Miss., to help care for the animals affected by Hurricane Katrina. The Humane Society of the United States arranged the trip. The agency has set up a shelter at the Forrest County Multipurpose Center in Hattiesburg.

Betty Clayton, Humane Society executive director, said the local organization was contacted this week by e-mail.

The Northwest Indiana society is sending the group's office manager, Freida White, and kennel manager, Karen Larken to assist.
