The library isn't my favorite haunt. When I need a computer, the journalism lab is usually available. To me, the library means rushed English papers and late fees.
Like most students, I don't notice the media aide pulling reference books off the shelves for me during class projects or the voice that politely requests I please sign in.
The life of a librarian -- rather, media center specialist -- is like an iceberg. Everyone only sees her basic duties: signing in students, maintaining quiet discipline and writing late fee slips. Librarians are just another example of under-appreciated public servants.
