"The Power of the Little Black Dress" lured more than 200 guests to The Peninsula Hotel in Chicago, where guests dined on lavish hors d'oeuvres at a cocktail reception that featured the collections of some of Chicago's premier fashion and accessory designers. This year's event chairs were Beverly Blettner and well-known set designer Skip Grisham. Others attending included Dorothy Fuller, Apparel Industry Board president, and Stanley Paul, Apparel Industry Foundation president.

Some 19 apparel designers participated in this event, including Mark Heister Designs Inc., John Schultz Knits, Yvette Contorno, Cyndi Chan, Kate Jacobsen, Rose Lecher and Lauren Smith.
