Article: 'Vagina Monologues' is funny and intense

A number of people wrote and complained to the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre about its decision to present Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues."

Presumably, the title ticked them off because anyone who has actually seen the production would find nothing to object to on moral grounds. There is no nudity, no pandering and no disrespect in "The Vagina Monologues."

Those with, and without, the titular body part will find the production a hilarious, eye-opening and richly entertaining 90 minutes of theater.

Directed with brash aplomb by Lauren Rawitz, the piece is based on thousands of interviews playwright Eve Ensler conducted with women about their bodies.
