Article: Native peoples tribes focus of Indian Trails Library exhibit

The Indian Trails Public Library has set up a new exhibit that explores the American Indian tribes that lived in Illinois between the 17th and 19th centuries to celebrate the library's Native American Heritage Month.

The exhibit, entitled Native Peoples of Illinois, is located in the library's large meeting room and includes panels of pictures showing the cultures and customs of the tribes that settled in Illinois between 1673 and 1835.

The traveling exhibit is on loan to the library from the Schingoeth Center for Native American Culture at Aurora University, said Swalena Griffin, youth services program manager for Indian Trails.
