Article: Golf course plans at Fort Sheridan suffer a setback

Plans to redevelop the golf course and make other improvements to the Fort Sheridan forest preserve have suffered a major setback, as bids put the controversial project significantly over budget.

Lake County Forest Preserve officials said they were stunned at the bids, which would have driven the cost of the entire project to at least $19.5 million, $5 million higher than a budget of $14.5 million agreed upon last year.

On Friday, three committees of the Forest Preserve Commission met to reject the bids.
