Article: Martin to build new shopping center

Libertyville businessman Jack Martin has often made news in the past for his outspoken views about Cook Memorial Library and his opposition to many tax referendum issues.

But the self-described tax watchdog and Cook library trustee is making news of another kind with plans to build a new strip shopping center on Peterson Road, near his business, the Libertyville Saddle Shop.

"We're excited about it. It's a big investment for us," said Martin of the shopping center project.

Martin said the new shopping center, which will be called the Grand Place Shopping Center, will be located immediately east of the Saddle Shop. It will be built on property the Martin family has owned since the 1920s ...
