Article: Dance academy keeps in step

When Alyson Hawkins saw her first dance performance at the Civic Opera House in Chicago, little did she know that years later, she would operate her own dance studio in Lindenhurst.

Hawkins' studio, the Waterford Dance Academy, is now in its fourth year. This year will mark major milestones in the Academy's existence, including the addition of more dance space, a doubling of the number of classes offered and the formation of a performing company.

"I enjoy every minute of it," said Hawkins. "It has grown quite a bit over the past few years. I started with just one small studio space."
