Article: Ramada Plaza plan dropped

The purple Ramada Plaza hotel at Lincoln and Touhy Avenues will remain standing a bit longer after the developer of a proposed retail and condominium complex for the site dropped his plans.

Abdul Matin of the Fortune Group in Skokie said the deal is now dead after months of hard work creating and revising plans.

"We're not happy about the way things turned out," Matin said. "We incurred a lot of cost and worked eight months on the project. All of that work is thrown out the window now."

The Ramada Plaza plan was slated for a Lincolnwood Plan Commission hearing last week. But shortly before the panel's March 10 meeting, village officials were informed that the project was a "dead deal," ...
