By proclamation of the Northbrook Village Board, Friday is Berj Tashjian Day, and if anybody wants to celebrate it the Tashjian way, they might consider showing some appreciation for their fellow citizens.
Tashjian, a 39-year village resident, has been a chief irritant of a generation of Northbrook Village Board members, but he maintains he's always been trying to promote good government, not personally attack officials. He got a chance to show that in his unique way May 11, after Village President Mark Damisch introduced a proclamation honoring Tashjian at a Village Board meeting.
