Article: Condo growth tops 2003 development

A plethora of condominium development proposals kept Skokie planners and trustees busy last year, beginning with the first mixed-use residential and retail project in Skokie's West Dempster redevelopment area.

That two-building project, on the 8800 block of Niles Center Road, won trustees' vote in March and featured 70 two- and three-bedroom condominiums in one 6-story building. Plans also called for the building to have some first-floor retail space, something about which village officials were adamant. The second building was 1 story tall and contained only commercial space.
