Homeowners throughout Lake County received their tax bills in the mail, and the news may not have been as bad as many residents had expected.
Some Lake Villa and Lindenhurst residents are receiving lower tax bills this year, thanks to higher exemptions and lower tax rates.
"I can't say it's the majority of the township. Mainly, most of Lake Villa and Lindenhurst's older sections will see the decrease," said Dave Stone, chief deputy assessor for Lake Villa Township. "Certain areas that were revalued won't see a decrease."
