Article: Oak Park Y hosts Healthy Kids Day

The Oak Park YMCA is opening its doors to the public Saturday to encourage children to become more physically active as part of Healthy Kids Day.

Free activities, including games, dancing, sports and health screenings, will be available from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Y, 255 S. Marion St.

"There's plenty of activities," said Barbara Usmial, senior program executive for the YMCA. "It's meant to be an event to keep the kids busy. It's like a three-ring circus."

Among the many events will be tae kwon do demonstrations, an obstacle course, craft table, a youth soccer demonstration and give-aways.
