Article: Trustees debate clock tower location

Trustees have deadlocked on where to put a 40-foot-tall clock tower in Antioch.

A vote to place the clock tower on the northeast corner of Orchard and Main Streets in the heart of downtown Antioch resulted in a tie, as Trustees Scott Pierce and Dorothy Larson and Mayor Taso Maravelas cast "yes" votes and Trustees Bob Caulfield, Larry Hanson and Barbara Porch cast the dissenting votes.

Trustee Mary Turner was absent.

"Everyone I've talked to has agreed the northeast corner ... is the best place for it," said Pierce. "I don't understand why the other trustees don't agree with it."

"I did not vote against putting it at that corner. I voted against making a decision at this time," said Porch.
