Article: Flu shots are hard to find

Leyden Township residents looking to get flu shots are more likely to have difficulty finding a dose as time goes on.

Early indications that the current flu season, which is expected to run through March, with peak times in January and February, is worse than normal has led to an increased demand for flu shots.

"The public awareness this year is so much greater than is normally the case," said Kitty Loewy, director of communications for the Cook County Department of Public Health. "Because of the media coverage, nationally, and the deaths from flu that have been reported, there has been a noticeable increase the past couple of weeks in people wanting to get flu shots."
