Article: Skokie Swift fee for parking to rise

The Skokie Village Board has approved a 50-cent increase in the daily parking fee at the Skokie Swift parking lots.

The increase brings the total daily fee to $1.50 per vehicle and goes into effect on Sept. 2.

"The last Skokie Swift parking lot fee increase was in 1984," Village Manager Albert J. Rigoni said. "Skokie's lots are among 15 Park and Rides in the CTA system, and are the only ones that do not assess $1.50 or more per day."

The CTA has concurred with Skokie's rate increase.

After Sept. 2, the village will no longer sell parking tokens. Existing $1 tokens will be accepted after Sept. 2 but must be supplemented by an additional 50 cents in change.
