Article: Myers sets record in sectional final

Aside from one mistake, Travis Myers was a mystery to the Hersey hitters.

When the final out was recorded on Saturday afternoon, the Lake Forest High School pitcher assumed the top spot in single-season victories at LFHS. The 3-2 win in the Stevenson Sectional final means that Myers (11-2) has more victories than the 10 put up by Danny Esplin (10-1) in 1990.

"It's unbelievable to be put up with the best players I've seen play," said Myers, who has watched the team through the years as the son of head coach Tommy Myers.

The road to the record featured a bumpy sixth inning. With the Scouts nursing a 2-0 lead, Hersey tied the game on a single by Matt Standish and a two-run homer by Jon Wano.
