The caucus advisory board is forging ahead full steam with plans to organize a caucus nominating committee to interview and select candidates for the 2003 elections.
"We are not going to wait until September, and say, 'Gee, we need a nominating committee,' as has been done at times in the past," caucus advisory board chairman Ted Giesler said.
Giesler's announcement follows on the heels of a recent report by the Deerfield League of Women Voters, which fully endorsed the caucus system despite the criticism that followed the 2001 village elections. The league suggested only minor modifications, including having only one ballot instead of multiple ballots at the Town Meeting.
