Article: Gang activity in northwest Schaumburg addressed

A recent presentation on gang presence in Schaumburg attracted some concerned village residents.

Sgt. Gary Darrow of the Schaumburg police told members of the Public Safety Committee and several residents Oct. 10 about the extent of gang activity and presence in the village. He also discussed ways the community could get involved in helping the police reduce gang activity.

Darrow told the committee and residents that Schaumburg doesn't have "a huge amount" of home-grown gang activity. The proximity of major roadways, such as the Northwest Tollway and Route 53/I-290, gives gangs lots of access to the village.
