Article: Development panel backs tax break for Kohl's store

The Lincolnwood Economic Development Commission is recommending a tax break for Kohl's Department Store in the hope of landing the retailer for the Lincolnwood Town Center mall.

Kohl's is in negotiations with Simon Properties Group, which owns the mall, Community Development Director Tim Clarke said. Kohl's would replace JC Penney, which closed its doors before the holiday shopping season last year. The mall's anchor store site has sat vacant for about four months.

Village Trustees are expected to vote on the EDC's recommendation this month.
