Article: Brickyard Bank severs payday lending ties

Brickyard Bank President David Keller has announced the Lincolnwood bank will discontinue involvement in the payday lending industry by the end of the year.

Although protesters of payday lending operations have staged two demonstrations outside the Brickyard Bank within the last six months, Keller said the actions played no role in the bank's decision.

"We continue to believe this is a very valuable service and can be done in a responsible way," Keller said. "Our decision was only a business decision. As much as we respect the right of people to protest, this had nothing to do with our decision."
