Robert C. Ferris

Robert C. Ferris, 74, entrepreneur and sportsman, died Jan. 2 of respiratory failure in Ocean Ridge, Florida. The beloved husband of Martha Singleton Ferris, he was a longtime resident of Chicago and the North Shore.

He was born Nov. 11, 1927 in Princeton, Ill. and grew up on the family homestead. Mr. Ferris attended Lincoln Grade School in Princeton, graduated from Princeton High School in 1945 and went on to attend the University of Illinois. After college he entered the Navy, serving as a medic at Great Lakes Naval Academy. In the early fifties, he settled in Chicago where he founded Christiana Industries.
