The Libertarian Party found its 2002 gubernatorial candidate while the former state legislator watched his young son play in the Play Place at the Crystal Lake McDonald's.
Cal Skinner, Jr., a former Republican state representative from the 64th District, will head the party's ticket. The Libertarian Party plans to team him with Jim Tobin, president of National Taxpayers United of Illinois. Skinner said he accepted the nomination because many of his personal issues fit the Libertarian Party platform.
It was during a meeting at the Crystal Lake McDonald's that the idea of running on the Libertarian ticket crystalized for Skinner.
