Article: Open space supporters continue push

Despite a resounding defeat at the polls less than a month ago, open space supporters in Fremont Township have not given up their fight yet.

Open space was one of the topics discussed at the annual Fremont Township town meeting Monday night. Nearly 100 people attended the meeting to voice their opinions on a variety of issues, such as open space, schools, development issues, and assistance for the needy.

Loraine "Raine" Ray, who chairs the Fremont Open Space Committee, said open space supporters believe their message is getting through to the public, even through a referendum to establish a new open space district in the township was defeated by voters in March.
