Vernon Hills has 30 days to respond to a law suit filed Dec. 26 in Lake County Circuit Court by the Vernon Hills Park District.
The complaint seeks a declaratory judgment injunction and other relief over the village action to prevent the Park District from moving forward with park renovations at the Deerpath Community Park.
At issue is the Sept. 4 decision by the Village Board to deny site approval for proposed improvements, including a planned parking lot at the Warrington Road entrance to 68-acre community park.
