Some local fire departments will have to evaluate how they handle their emergency service runs in light of the announced closing of the Provena St. Therese Medical Center by 2005.
Vista Health, which operates both the 251-bed St. Therese Hospital and smaller 205-bed Victory Memorial Hospital, both in Waukegan, has reversed its decision on the site for the impending consolidation of the two hospitals. As it stands, the hospital consolidation will take place at Victory Memorial Hospital, several miles farther east and not at St. Therese as previously planned.
