With more than 500,000 musical items to sort, stack and price, perhaps it isn't surprising that volunteers for the Mammoth Music Mart didn't quite know how best to display sheet music and song books.

Then Joel Cohen visited the Mart's huge tent at Old Orchard Center in 1986.

"The year before I became a volunteer I went, toward the end when things had been picked over pretty well. I looked at how they had the sheet music organized, and thought 'This is arranged all wrong.' Then I said 'Put your money where your mouth is,' and I volunteered the next year. I eventually helped them reorganize their sheet music system," Cohen said this week.
