The contributions of Chicago area men and women who fought in World War II are recalled in an exhibit at The Grove National Historic Landmark through Saturday.
The exhibit was put together by David Wendell, a part-time programmer at The Grove, for whom history is a passion.
What is it about history - and military aviation history in particular - that captivates him? "Everyone asks me that question. I give a standard pat answer: I've been interested in history since the history of me began. I cannot account for it," he said.
