Runner Victor Del Rosso heads Barrington's three-man contingent to this weekend's IHSA track and field championships in Charleston.

Del Rosso surprised the field Friday at the Fremd Sectional by winning the 800-meter run in 1:58, three seconds faster than his previous career best when he placed fifth at the MSL Meet May 12.

Broncos coach Mark Zemke isn't sure what to expect from Del Rosso Downstate.

"It was kind of a coming-out party for Victor Friday," Zemke said. "I'm not sure whether he'll do even better or just go down and get experience. We would like to see him improve, but he was a surprise last week. He could go either way."
