Barrington senior quarterback D.J. Gumowski waited for a day like Saturday his entire career.

He wasn't going to let a minor detail like a heavy downpour spoil it. Gumowski led the Broncos (2-6, 1-3 MSL West) to a 10-7 overtime homecoming victory over Hoffman Estates (3-5, 1-3), eliminating the Hawks from playoff contention.

Barrington took the field 45 minutes before kickoff to get acclimated to the sloppy conditions, even lying on the muddy surface for pregame calisthenics that usually get postponed when it's wet.
