Like thousands of other Americans who develop leukemia every year, John Thomas is waiting for a cure.
In his case, that cure begins with a bone marrow transplant.
However, with a deadline of Feb. 12 to find a
Thomas suitable donor, the 19-year-old Lake Barrington resident cannot wait much longer.
Thomas, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia in July, is scheduled to undergo a bone marrow transplant next week in Milwaukee. If a suitable donor cannot be found by then, doctors will use the marrow of one of his parents until a better match can be found.
