Second grade students at Braeside School will send their Emerald City down the gray concrete highway for an appearance at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago Dec. 11.
"This is a very majestic city they are producing," said Cindy McPherson, second grade teacher.
But then, everything about the "Wizard of Oz" is majestic.
Construction of the Emerald City model reflects part of the second grade curriculum theme this year. Children's Memorial Hospital also attached its fund-rasing effort and charity ball theme to the images in the famous book. Both highlight the upcoming centennial celebration of "The Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum May 15.
