Lake Bluff's village board wants to make sure they have the final say on all zoning variances, at least for the time being.

The Board recently authorized the village attorney to prepare an ordinance which would amend the zoning code allowing the village board to have the final say on all zoning variation requests.

The issue of bulk ordinances was discussed heavily in this year's election campaign. After the election in April, trustee Tom Skinner cam forward and claimed the village board should have the final say on variances from the zoning code. Currently, the Zoning Board can approve petitions without village board authority for variances 35 percent or less than the code ...
