Harper College will offer two new certificate and associate degree programs this fall.

College trustees recently approved the programs in public relations and computer forensics.

"We were already planning to do something along the lines of information technology security," said Jennifer Mathes, dean of business and social sciences. "We weren't sure where we were going to go. The state asked if we were interested in applying for a grant and we worked out the whole process."

The programs are in response to growth in the job fields.

"We're gearing the programs towards industry partners," said Mathes. "In the case of computer security, it's not necessarily for law enforcement. With computer ...
