Article: Graduation rate for blacks: 48.5%

Fewer than half the black students in Indiana will graduate from high school, according to a report released Tuesday by the Education Research Center. The state's overall graduation rate was 73 percent for the 2002-03 school year, the most recent data available, which was significantly lower than the 91 percent graduation rate the state reported.

Black students had a 48.5 percent graduation rate, and Hispanic students' graduation rate was 52.3 percent, according to the report. Poor students who qualify for free or reduced lunches had a 32.5 percent graduation rate.
