Article: Walgreens bristles at demands

Three points of contention are threatening to shut down an annexation agreement between Walgreens and Deerfield trustees, five years in the making.

In a public hearing held Monday, Walgreens officials refused to bend on three points trustees want included in an agreement that would annex the Wilmot Road corporate center and allow construction of a 215,000-square-foot building on the pharmaceutical company's campus.

Trustees indicated they would not likely approve the annexation without the provisions.

"We have a draft (agreement). We shall put in the things we require, send it to Walgreens and see if they agree," said Mayor Bernard Forrest, ending a half hour of disputes between the board ...
