With one member voicing a strong dissenting opinion, the City Council's Human Services Committee moved forward with a recommendation Monday that the new Levy Senior Center be sited in James Park and not in downtown.
Although no quorum was present, committee members voted 2-1 to recommend to the council that the Levy Center be built in James Park, located at Dodge Avenue and Mulford Street.
The proposal now will go before the full City Council for action and review.
The two Human Services Committee members voting yes, Alderman Art Newman, 1st Ward, and Gene Feldman, 9th, the committee's current chairman, also serve on a subcommittee at the Levy Senior Center, which has come out in favor of ...
