Article: Park District chosen to run pool

An unexpected vote by the Grayslake Board of Trustees gave Park District officials conditional control of the village's new aquatic center Tuesday night. The surprise consensus ended what some political spectators expected to be a long grudge match between sparring board members.

With one trustee's seat expected to remain vacant until spring 2001, the Grayslake Village Board is split 3-3 along political lines. Many onlookers believed the board was on the brink of more than a year of deadlock.

But a surprise vote by Trustee John MacAulay shifted the balance - at least temporarily.
