Article: Opinion split on village hall

Mount Prospect trustees on Aug. 8 held the last of three discussions concerning recommendations for a new village hall.

The purpose of the meetings was to discuss the recommendations of a committee formed to examine a potential village hall, said Trustee Irvana Wilks.

In all, the village decided to accept nine of the committee's 11 recommendations, Wilks said. Recommendations that the village not allow for drop-in recreational activities and that it eliminate the current senior center were rejected.

"Seniors need to be able to connect to each other, to get out of their houses or apartments and see each other," Wilks said. "That's what our senior center has become."
