Article: Costco shopping for other store sites

Costco Wholesale is shopping for sites outside Northbrook on which to build a new warehouse store, and delaying until spring any hearings on store plans for the site it owns at 1000 Skokie Boulevard.

Area residents have protested those plans, citing traffic concerns, while proponents say losing Costco would cost Northbrook nearly $1 million in sales tax revenue.

Costco planner Ted Johnson of Northbrook's Thompson Dyke and Associates said Monday, "We've heard from some people in Northbrook that Costco would be a wonderful addition to the community, and we've also heard concerns about the Skokie Boulevard site.
