Article: Residents oppose parking lot

Village officials best be prepared for an onslaught of organized opposition to plans to raze a Thatcher Avenue home and build a parking lot.

Cindy Dampier, who lives on the 300 block of Gale Avenue said neighbors have formed a citizens committee to oppose the village's plans to demolish a home at 355 Thatcher Ave. and build a parking lot.

In its letter to trustees, the group, called the Southwest River Forest Neighborhood Association, requests the village cancel its purchase of the home.

"In short, the interest in favor of maintaining the residential quality of our neighborhood overwhelmingly outweighs any interest in a slab of asphalt and a few parking spaces."
