Article: Panel: allow 6-foot fences, but require wrought iron

Although the Lincolnwood Plan Commission is ready to recommend allowing six-foot fences in the village for the first time, the panel still appears to back stricter fence regulations than those in many surrounding communities.

Commissioners met last week and agreed on several principles that could be the basis of a recommended ordinance that would go before the Village Board for final approval. Among agreements is allowing residents to install six-foot fences in side and rear yards but only if the fences are made of wrought iron.

The Plan Commission is expected to vote on the proposed ordinance later this month or early next month, Chairman Paul Eisterhold said.
