As she weighed whether to commit herself to Sydney in 2000, Buffalo Grove resident Colleen Rosensteel surveyed the universal Olympic checklist.

Talent: check.

Desire: check.

Heart: check.

One category, however, did not get marked.

Money: little to none.

Olympics and money. They go together as well as the IOC and ethics. But when Rosensteel was "surviving on credit cards" between 1996-1998, times were not warm and fuzzy.

Going for the gold took on a whole new meaning when Rosensteel decided to prepare for her third Olympics in judo. The Pennsylvania native had to find a way to train, while offsetting living expenses.
